I"m having a bit of a disagreement within my work group and would like some feedback.
One person is saying for consistency purposes we should enter 100% of our inbound inquiries into leads, then convert them to opportunities after qualification.
In our business, while we receive some lists from organizations to refer business to us which isn't all qualified, we also have a tremendous amount of repeat business from accounts as well as contacts.
I'm saying that we should bypass the lead process as its largely keystroke entry and not lookup so increases the number of keystrokes to do the lead entry, and then after conversion have to then go through and relink to accoutns and contacts.
At the same time, you can't clone an opportunity information over to a lead for a future piece of business (in our business, its not "if" they will ahve need of us, its 'when' and in what city' - and we also have a tremendous amount of monthly and yearly repeat business......
Any comments or questions that i have missed?
