We all would agree that Splash Screen on Lightning which currently plays the animation for the current release is a mandate time killer for anyone on the implementation side of Salesforce.
It would be good to have a "Disable Lightning Splash Screen" on the User's "Settings" Page.
Let's vote for this idea.

@Doug Ayers Thanks for making the background of the picture clearer. The idea was to communicate it to Salesforce that an improvement in the performance of Lightning Pages is invited by all.
On a lighter note, it will help justify the label "Lightning Experience" !
