Tried mobilizing your Visualforce pages in Chatter Mobile yet? We have - as soon as Chatter mobile version 4.2 was released last week we were onto this. Check out these screenshots of our first deployment and the story of our fantastic mobile app!

Like us, you've probably been waiting anxiously for the ability to inject

Force.com

pages and applications into the Chatter mobile app. Which, let’s face it, is the natural home for any external application and pages given the growth and adoption of Chatter through the trend which is the mobile and social enterprise. Yes, we wondered why it took so long too!

Our app was first developed back in September by our internal team (

@Ross James @Alex Wang and yours truly). It was a perfect example of what an internal team can do on their own with a little bit of time and internal know-how provided by our retail team who is slowly realising the power of the platform and the potential for simple, fast and flexible development using Force.com

component and low end licences such as Chatter Only/Plus.

In short, the app gives a real time view of all sales data, by individual, nationwide, and is available anywhere, anytime and on any device. Just to put this into context, prior to this, results were distributed by PDF and xls without accumulated figures or individual attribution. If you were lucky, you would have a sense of who had done what by the end of the week. Now, we¹re into minutes.

The app features a responsive presentation layer on

Force.com

and pulls data from the retail POS system providing a real time view of sales data from the country¹s entire retail store network. The store ID and sales attribution mechanism in the POS system maps to the Salesforce ID and through Chatter and the role hierarchy, the application match sales, scores, rank and read rights in a simple and intuitive matrix of days, weeks and months.

Now, we've made this available through Chatter. It¹s awesome. It¹s simple. It¹s cost effective. Let us know what you think of the screenshots and feel free to comment or submit suggestions.

@Erik Jacobsen and I will be bouncing around Dreamforce next week so if you are looking to do something similar or have taken the extended Force.com

capability inside Chatter further, please reach out.
