Enhanced Omni-Channel is Salesforce's next-generation routing engine for Agentforce Service. It runs on Hyperforce infrastructure, and replaces Standard Omni-Channel, which reached end of life with the Summer ’26 release.

Standard Omni-Channel relied on a polling-based model. Picture your rep's browser tapping the server on the shoulder every few seconds at a set interval: “Is there new work for me? How about now? Now?” It worked, but it was slow and inefficient. That introduced a delay between when work arrived and when a rep received it, and it created unnecessary load on the system.
Enhanced Omni-Channel replaces that model with Server-Sent Events (SSE), a push-based architecture where the server notifies the browser the moment work is available. But the shift to SSE isn't just about speed—it's about what that architecture makes possible for your organization.
- Higher reliability: SSE connections are more stable and better at recovering from network instability, so reps stay connected and keep receiving work even in degraded network conditions.
- Faster improvements: Because Enhanced Omni-Channel operates as a microservice, Salesforce can deploy updates and fixes to the routing engine independently—without waiting for a full platform release.

Enhanced Omni-Channel uses a new domain URL: *.salesforce-scrt.com. If your organization uses a corporate network or VPN with domain restrictions, this domain needs to be allowlisted before you go live—otherwise reps and AI agents won't receive work.
