Trailhead has enabled me to better support my family and opened paths for growth we never thought were possible.
Prior to learning Salesforce skills what was your job search like?
Before I learned Salesforce skills on Trailhead, my job search was limited by my geography. I live in a very remote area that has struggled economically. When I looked for a job, it had to be in my field (construction) and within reasonable range of my home.
What made you want to make the switch from construction to a career using Salesforce?
I wanted to have more control over my future and the future of my family. There is a big demand for skilled developers and an overall trend towards a remote workforce. Through a program coordinated by CentralApp, a sister company to the company where I work now, I began learning on Trailhead. Because of the in-demand Salesforce skills I've learned, I can now work remotely for companies located all over the world.
How has this experience impacted your family?
Trailhead has enabled me to better support my family and opened paths for growth we never thought were possible. In rural Appalachia, career paths can be limited to the local economy. With the remote work boom and the many Salesforce career paths available, my prospects are no longer limited by my location. Skilling up on the Salesforce platform has changed everything for me and my family.

What does being a “Trailblazer” mean to you?
Being a Trailblazer means that I can help show people a new path towards prosperity, job satisfaction, and personal and professional growth. It’s easy to be overcome with doubts or to feel stuck where you are. I’ve been in that position. But learning Salesforce skills has opened a new chapter for me and I’m just getting started.
Have you had a chance to get involved with the Trailblazer Community?
Yes! I’m a member of the Salesforce for Manufacturing Group virtual community. The group helps me understand the business context surrounding the development work I’m doing.
What would you say to someone looking for a new career?
I would say check out Trailhead! What are you waiting for? Demand is high and growing. You can use your previous experience, combined with your new Salesforce skills, to join any industry as a Salesforce hero, solve problems, add value, and grow towards the future!
