⭐️ Big Wechat news this week - Tencent is cracking down on grey-area private traffic managers like WeTool. Lot of accounts closed down in the last couple of days. Private traffic is a big deal in China, many brands rely on it as a major sales pillar. Private traffic is what made Perfect Diary the #1 cosmetics brand in China.

What is Tencent up to? No doubt encouraging (read: forcing) companies to migrate to Wechat Work to manage their private traffic.

⭐️ All those millions of Wechat Work accounts will now be used for managing external contacts, whereas before they were almost purely used for internal company productivity (like Slack).

These Wechat Work accounts are messaging endpoints, mini-Official Accounts, which will be massively leveraged by marketing departments, sales departments and customer service departments.

⭐️We at JING have seen this coming and that's why we are rolling out our updated JINGsales tool which powers Wechat Work, just like our JING social tool powers the Wechat Official Account. And our JINGconnect connects both into Salesforce.

Clients will be waking up to this opportunity very soon. Exciting times!

  • Short video platforms experienced a surge of traffic during this period. Over 40% of interviewees said they spent significantly longer time on the platforms than before.
