You can create an LOD:

# Lines per Order:
{FIXED [Order]:COUNT([Location ID])}

Then you can sum the number or orders with lines>1

#Number of Orders>1:
IF [# Lines per Order]>1 THEN 1 END

Take into account that in order to dimension filters affect fixed calculations these must be added to context. To do this, right clic on the filter in the filter shelf and select add to context.

Here's the error you're getting.

I didn't realize this until now, but it appears you cannot use blending when one of your data sources uses the new(ish) relationship model. Instead of using relationships, double-click into your table to get to the "physical layer" then set up physical joins instead of relationships.

That should eliminate the errors.

this is the way the data sets are connected

and with the inner joins only the vehicles from a state that are also rented will be in the result set in your chart

in the WA example

there are 3 vehicles in the state

but only 970 was rented

one way to count all the vehicles is to left join the data on the vehicle/owners

and it will count the vehicles by stated

and also let you get this connection to rentals

In the attached workbook, I created two calculated fields to be able to view average call time in 15 minute intervals. The tabs are labelled Step One, Step Two and Step Three.

Step One

Create a calculated field that converts your dates into 15 minute intervals. There are likely many ways to do this, but my formula looks like this:

DATEADD(

    'minute',

    DATEDIFF('minute', [Start Date], DATETRUNC('hour', [Start Date])) % 15,

    DATETRUNC('minute', [Start Date])

)

The formula truncates the date to the nearest minute, than subtracts the correct number of minutes between it & the closest 15 minute interval. In the Step One, I display the original date and the converted date side-by-side, so that you can verify that the conversion is working.

Step Two

Create a calculated field that calculates the average call time. Formula is simply:

SUM([Minutes]) / SUM([Number of Records])

If you had a unique call identifier in your data, I would generally prefer this to be:

SUM([Minutes]) / COUNTD([Call ID])

but if your data doesn't have a unique Call ID, using the number of records should work as long as there is always one call per record.

Step Three

Verify visually. I plotted call volume for January 23rd, just to visually confirm that everything looks cool.

Thanks for the workbook. You were close. When using a Dimension (anything that has a blue icon next to the field name under tables), you generally can only count those, not SUM.

You noted that you have more than one unique Caller Number per Number of Records amt. So, it would be COUNTD([Caller Number]).

Which means, the % formula is: SUM([Calls Converted])/COUNTD([Caller Number]).

Your formula should look like this:

Just reference the number variable you created earlier.

EDIT since this is getting a lot of views and some people seem to be struggling with this challenge:

- "It won't save". It does save, the error you're getting is just a warning that doesn't prevent you from saving the flow.

- Spelling: Don't just type the answer above when creating your formula. Reference the number variable you created in the previous step by inserting the resource into your formula. Also make sure your variables match the exact spelling in the instructions. They're case-sensitive. 

- Save new version: Make sure you save, or save as before checking the challenge.
