Refresh the Trailhead page and try Create Playground again.
Open Trailhead in an Incognito/Private window and retry.
Disable browser extensions such as ad blockers temporarily.
Make sure you're logged into the correct Trailhead account.
Check Trailhead --> Hands-on Orgs / Playgrounds to see whether the Playground was actually created despite the loading screen.
