Hello NPSP community-

Our contact records contain a Mailing Address field, but our account records hold addresses with Line 1, Line 2, etc., which can result in reports not pulling a contact's full address when we are doing mailing campaigns and, therefore, lots of manual work to get those Line 2, Line 3 into the report.

I am looking for best practices for how to get this information correct in contact records. My instinct is to create two additional mailing address fields in our contact records and then chipping away at filling those new fields with Line 2/Line 3 info.

Has anyone else found themselves in this position and navigated such a project or have thoughts on how best to approach? Thanks in advance for any support or guidance here <3.

Yes, that is a good way to get around Salesforce's oddly limited address fields.

There are many different ways around the world people record addresses, and Salesforce doesn't support them very well.  Here in New Zealand, for example, we usually record the suburb as well as the city, and even sometimes need to include the building name.  Suburb is very important for the physical location because we sometimes have two streets with the same name in different suburbs of the same city!
