Hi all,

On the Asset object there are 2 CPQ fields that seemingly should be doing the same

  • Root Asset (CPQ) - SBQQ__RootAsset__c - Ultimate bundle parent of this Asset
  • Root Id - SBQQ__RootId__c - The ID of the subscription or asset at the root of the bundle that contains this asset

Does anyone know why there are 2 such fields and what the behaviour is on how they get filled in? I am encountering issue on amenedment that the Root Id is filled in but not the Root Asset

It’s used for establishing bundle relationships. There are two because the bundle can be either an Asset or a Subscription and you can’t have one lookup field that works for both. That’s why it’s a text string.
