From what I have found, currently you can select which fields are searchable in each object under Search Manager, and with the new Assign Objects You Want Einstein to Search, you can determine which objects auto populate in your search results without having to pre-select the object or even hit enter. But the only field that you can search by (without having to hit enter and be redirected to the search results page) is the Name field on the object. I want to allow users to search by a text field (that contains an account #), and those results auto populate in the global search bar before they hit enter, just as it does with the Name field in the newly enabled Assign Objects You Want Einstein to Search beta feature. Is this possible today?
@Kelsea Slater I ended up reaching out to support. Was told that for my org, the values in the lookup/relationship fields are not searchable for custom objects. I want our user to be able to search for a customer & only have that customer plus related policies appear, so as it stands right now for the global search to return our custom object "Policy" results when the related Account Name is searched, a separate custom text field would have to be created. Apparently you can use data loader to populate the custom field so I might try later.
