How do you capture best year of giving to include both soft and hard credits?

We want to calculate our account's giving level based on their best year of giving INCLUDING both hard and soft credits (mainly to capture gifts via donor advised funds). Currently their giving level classification (friend, mid, major) is calculated based on best gift year amount for hard credits only. We've created a bunch of customizable roll-ups so that the account's appropriate soft credit roll ups show up on the account. Currently, my plan is to create additional custom fields adding the soft + hard credit roll-up for each individual year, then an additional formula field to pick highest giving year total. Would love a more streamlined/better approach if someone has one!

    @Cyndi Myers, I was wondering the same thing! It seems like a gross oversight if this functionality is still not available!!
