Recurring donations with open ended status none deleting and creating duplicate opportunties

Hi,

We have Corporate agreements that runs for lets say 5 year, with yearly invoice to customer. For this we are using recurring donation with  open ended status none. 5 installments and yearly invoice.

This means we get 5 opportuntities on this recurring donation agreement. One for each year. To invoice the customer we need to add products to the current year opportunity when closing date is coming up.  We also have a custome field : giro sent; yes or no. We change to giro sent= yes when we have invoiced customer and the opportunity will be synced with  our financial system Agresso.

What we see is that the SF NPSP deletes and replace with new opportunties when we open the recurring donation agreement. This happens the second the agreement is opened. I will find the same number of opportunties in my recycle bin. Information seem to be the same in all opportunities.

Then the problems start.

When we make changes to one opportunity at a later stage we see that existing opportunties are deleted and replaced with new once. Often then the products added is gone and invoicenumber is different because the existing are deleted and new once with next in line invoice number is created.

Our partner says this is according to  the logic of Salesforce NPSP. It will delete and replace when we make changes to a RD with open ended different to Open or closed, meaning status none.

Anybody familiar with this concept and have a solution for how to handle Recurring donations with open ended status None?
