Before You Start

Before you start this badge, make sure you complete this content. The work you do here builds on the concepts and work you do in that content.

Scattered Data and Delays

A machine on the factory floor fails, and the production line stops. Every hour it stays down has a price in missed orders, idle crews, and lost customers. Before a repair can even start, someone pulls the asset's service history, confirms warranty coverage, and finds the right parts. Then they book a qualified technician.

In most manufacturing businesses, this data is scattered. The parts catalog sits in one system, warranty terms in another, technician schedules in a third. The hard part isn't the repair. It's the half-hour of hunting before anyone picks up a wrench.

That pattern repeats across the business. Sales reps jump between tools to price a deal and find a distributor. Account managers reopen agreement after agreement to adjust planned volumes. Rebate teams reconcile payouts that no single report can confirm. The work is familiar; the time lost stitching systems together is the tax on getting it done.

Agentforce for Manufacturing helps simplify these everyday workflows with AI-powered assistance directly inside Salesforce. In this badge, you learn what Agentforce for Manufacturing is and how its prebuilt agents support the work of sales, service, inventory, and channel teams. You also explore how it keeps every interaction grounded in trusted data.

Meet Agentforce for Manufacturing

Agentforce for Manufacturing is a suite of agent templates that meets the unique needs of manufacturing businesses. It lets your teams complete daily tasks using plain, conversational language in Salesforce.

Instead of navigating through multiple screens and systems, a sales rep asks:

"Find a distributor for high-temp gaskets near Chicago."

A service rep asks:

"Summarize this asset and create a repair estimate."

An inventory manager says:

"Check stock levels for item P-10045 at the East Coast warehouse."

The agent understands the request, pulls the right data, and takes action—all in one place.

Agentforce for Manufacturing is built on Salesforce's Data 360 and the Atlas Reasoning Engine, letting agents work with your real-time data and respond in natural language. Prebuilt templates bring trusted AI agents to every team, helping teams improve productivity, speed up time to market, and strengthen customer and channel relationships.

Now let’s explore how it works.

Building Blocks of Agents

Every Agentforce agent for Manufacturing is made up of three building blocks: template, subagent, and action. Think of an agent as a specialist on your team. The template defines the agent’s role, subagents provide focused expertise, and actions help the agent complete specific tasks.

The building blocks of an agent.

Template

Templates are prebuilt agent configurations designed for common manufacturing use cases. Each template comes with recommended subagents, actions, and workflows already set up, so you're not starting from scratch.

For example, a service-focused template may already include capabilities for creating repair estimates and generating work orders. Admins can configure templates using Agent Builder, a no-code tool in Salesforce. Developers can extend them further with custom functionality.

Subagent

Subagents help the agent focus on a specific area of work. They understand the context of a request and determine the right actions to take.

Every agent includes an Agent Router subagent that acts as the entry point for each conversation. It welcomes the user and routes the request to the right subagent based on intent. For example, the Asset Service Management template includes two subagents: one for building service estimates, and one for converting approved quotes into work orders. The Agent Router makes sure each request lands with the right one. Subagents keep the agent focused, making sure it only takes actions that are appropriate for the task at hand.

Action

Actions are the skills an agent performs behind the scenes.

When a service rep asks an agent to summarize an asset record, an action retrieves and analyzes the relevant information automatically. Other actions can check inventory levels, generate quotes, create work orders, draft emails, or submit replenishment requests.

Together, these make Agentforce flexible and scalable. Teams can start with a single use case and expand their agents over time as business needs evolve. A template comes pre-loaded with subagents, and each subagent knows which actions it can take. For example, the Asset Service Management template includes an Asset Service Estimation subagent, which can run the Create Service Quote action.

Explore the Agents

Agents handle the information gathering, the system navigation, and the routine task execution, freeing your team to focus on judgment, relationships, and decisions. Here are the agent templates you get and how they help you.

A Foundation You Can Trust

Before your teams start using agents, you might wonder: Is the agent doing the right thing with the data? Agentforce for Manufacturing is built on Salesforce's Einstein Trust Layer, a set of safeguards designed to keep your data secure, your outputs accurate, and your operations auditable. Here’s how it works.

  • Data stays in Salesforce. Agents access only the data each user is already authorized to see, respecting your existing roles, profiles, and field-level security settings. If a user can't see a field or record in Salesforce, the agent can't access it either. Salesforce also enforces a strict Zero Data Retention (ZDR) policy with all external large language model (LLM) providers. Prompts and responses are immediately discarded after processing and never stored, inspected, or used to train AI models.
  • Every action is logged. The Trust Layer captures a detailed audit trail of every agent interaction. This includes prompt sent, context retrieved, safety scores applied, and output returned. That log is available for review at any time.
  • Compliance is included. Because every interaction is traceable, your org can meet internal governance requirements without anyone manually documenting what the agent did.

When you're documenting processes or briefing stakeholders on how AI fits into a workflow, a transparent, auditable system makes those conversations a lot easier. Agentforce gives manufacturing teams a consistent, governed way to work with their data at scale.
