I have customised a Community standard Login page with a flow which invokes an Apex class whic h calls UserManagement.initSelfRegistration() and UserManagement.verifySelfRegistration() to register a new user (I'm working on passwordless login).

After calling initSelfRegistration(), the Apex code opens a SelfRegistration Visualforce page which then executes verifySelfRegistration() which returns the page which will create/log in the user.

This all works fine.

However, this SelfRegistration Visualforce page is the only VF left in my system; I would prefer to replace it with a Flow screen. So after initSelfRegistration(), instead of calling a VF SelfRegistration page, I return to the Flow and go on to a Flow screen, after which I invohe Apex again to executes verifySelfRegistration().

All the parameters etc. are passed correctly - no problem.

However, I am always getting a res.message = "Failed to create user." returned by verifySelfRegistration(). No way to understand why.

The documentation for initSelfRegistration() and verifySelfRegistration() say they are to be "when creating a custom (Visualforce) Verify page for community".

QUESTION : Does this mean that it works ONLY in Visualforce ?  Not in Lightning (Aura/LWC) or Flow ?  Is there something special in the VF runtime engine which is absent from the Flow runtime engine which makes it fail in Flow ?

    Hi @Andrew McNamara

, we tried everything but stuck with the VF page, in the end.

Whenever we have to use a VF page in the different parts of the login process, we use it to redirect to a community page, which is easier to customize (CSS). We also then use a Flow in that (custom) community page to host standard or custom lightning components to do the job.
