Kratika Soni (test) 님이 #Trailhead Challenges에 질문했습니다

Hi everyone,

I’m currently working as a Business Analyst and want to build my career as a Salesforce Consultant over the next 1.5–2 years.

I would love to get some guidance from experienced Salesforce professionals on:

  • What Salesforce skills should I focus on?
  • Which certifications would be useful?
  • What kind of projects or hands-on experience should I look for?
  • How can I use my current Business Analyst experience to transition into a Salesforce Consultant role?

Any advice on a practical 1.5–2 year roadmap would be really helpful.

Thank you!

Your BA background is a bigger head start than people realize, requirements gathering, process mapping, user stories, stakeholder management and gap analysis ARE the core of Salesforce consulting. You are not starting over, you are adding the platform layer on top. A concrete 1.5-2 year path:

Phase 1 (months 0-6), platform fluency + certify what you already do:

    - Salesforce Administrator cert: the non-negotiable foundation (objects, flows, security, reports).

    - Salesforce Business Analyst cert: tailor-made for your transition, it certifies the BA skills you already have in a Salesforce context (discovery, user stories, process mapping, UAT). It is the most natural bridge from your current role and signals 'BA who knows Salesforce.'

    - Do Trailhead consistently and aim for a couple of superbadges (scenario-based, they show applied skill).

Phase 2 (months 6-15), go deep in one cloud:

    - Pick a domain that matches your industry experience, Sales Cloud or Service Cloud, and target that Cloud Consultant cert. Consultants are specialists, so depth in one cloud beats shallow across all.

    - Layer in Flow/automation and data-modeling skills, consultants design solutions, not just configure.

    - Build a portfolio: finish the matching superbadges and do one real end-to-end build (a free nonprofit / NPSP implementation or a Trailhead project) so you have something concrete to talk about.

Phase 3 (months 15-24), real project exposure + positioning:

    - Get on actual implementations any way you can, internal projects, volunteering (

    Salesforce.org

and nonprofits always need help), or a junior role at a partner. Nothing substitutes for delivery experience.

    - Practice the consultant muscles a BA role may not stretch: solution-design trade-offs, effort estimation, leading discovery workshops, and translating requirements into a scalable Salesforce design.

    - Get active in the Trailblazer Community and local user groups, a lot of consulting roles come through the network.

Leveraging your BA experience specifically: lead with it. In interviews, frame your requirements/stakeholder/process skills as consulting strengths and the certs as proof you have added the platform. Many partners specifically want BAs who can configure, that combination is in demand.

Net: Admin + Business Analyst cert (foundation) to one Cloud Consultant cert + superbadges (depth) to real delivery experience (proof you can ship). Your BA years count, you are closer than the certs make it look.

If this helps, please mark it as the Best Answer so it is easy for the next person to find. Thanks :)
