Iโm fairly new to working with Salesforce and Slack, and I have two questions about Salesforce channels in Slack, created from an Account in Salesforce:
- Channel naming โ Can I choose a custom name instead of it matching the Salesforce record name? If yes, how?
- External participants โ Can I add external users via Slack Connect? They wonโt have Salesforce access, but should join the chat. If yes, how?

For anyone that comes across this now (July 2026), there's been lots of updates here since this was initially posted.
You can now define the default name on Salesforce Channels for Records in Slack via the Slack admin panel, and you can do it by object.
I only found out about this, and other great new features about the Salesforce Channels for Records feature by joining and searching through the "Slack Community" public workspace on Slack.
