Certification Maintenance

I completed my Salesforce Admin Certification today (yay), and I am trying to gain clarity on whether I will need to take the maintenance module in April this year. It seems from the help articles and the credential verification service that I do not need to do the maintenance module, which I suppose makes sense. 

I would welcome any insights from you with experience or knowledge outside of the basic help articles on the subject. I want to make sure that I am not missing something really important. Cheers
