Hello all,

I am Non IT background mechanical engineer with 8 years of experience as Professor. Recently I got trained in salesforce through one of the trainer and completed some hands on projects. I am familiar with salesforce since 1 year and right now having confidence in implementing Admin and development(Apex, LWC).

When I am applying for job everyone is sending me regret mail. Can any one with similar career path guide me how to get into salesforce ecosystem. I can see freshers with recent year of passing get job offer easily. How to build up my profile for getting at least interview calls?

Hey Tushar, my background was in biology (i was in a PhD program studying RNA viruses before jumping ship). The answer here is to show motivation to learn and a whole lot of luck. Most of the resources i've worked with in the IST timezone are dev heavy therefore learning more about apex and getting a couple certs (specifically Admin and PD1 in your case, admin is crucial, pd1 is optional). On your resume, outline previous dev projects you've done on the side, and on interviews play off your background, being a mechanical engineer gives you a fresh perspective on convoluted problems and being a professor assumingely makes you a bit more patient when it comes to complicated problems and complicated people.

In addition, salesforce offers a mentorship program, see if this applies to you, get matched with a mentor so you can network with them and other people they may introduce you to, get them to look over your resume, etc.

Keep networking with people in your region is the key, and keep trying to reach those two certs. you got this.
