What options are available now if a user wants to have task created in Salesforce also created in Microsoft Outlook?  I know the Lightning Sync is being retired as well as old Salesforce for Outlook which I know allowed for task syncing.  I know Einstein Activity Capture will snyc emails and events, but I don't see anything on tasks.  The user wants the tasks created in Outlook and not just the Salesforce viewing pane that shows tasks in Salesforce.  Any thoughts or options would be much appreciated?  Thanks

Yes, you are right only Salesforce for outlook application has the capability of syncing Task records between Salesforce and Outlook.   Currently, Einstein Activity Capture Sync helps syncing Contacts and Events and capture Emails. It doesn't sync Task.

I would say, you should look for some Salesforce appexchange package to achieve the same.  for reference: https://appexchange.salesforce.com/appxSearchKeywordResults?keywords=Sync%20Salesforce%20Task%20with%20Outlook&searchType=simpleSearch
