Thanks to everyone who joined the Nonprofit Ask Me Anything this morning!
Special thanks again to our amazing hosts @Mark Jones and @Carolina Santamaria who fielded all the questions💪
As promised, here are some links/follow-ups from the call:
- Any examples of nonprofits that use Salesforce Sites for their websites?
- I would like to know about setting up an API user for the various apps that we have that log on to Salesforce e.g. Form Assembly, Mailchimp, Zapier.
- Why do the contact roles in an opportunity automatically add the individual as Soft Credit rather than a Donor if attached to an organization rather than a household account?
- We recently have rolled Salesforce out across our service delivery teams. As such, we purchased Platform licenses as they are not able to see budgets with salaries etc. However, the Platform License setup won't allow platform users to set up navigation bars. Are you able to let me know how to do this? When I try to do this via the dropdown on the tab it says "App isn't accessible"
- Consider: Do they have access at the profile level? (Find profile under setup)
- Check on the type of app: is a console nav app vs standard nav app
- Customizable Rollups + advanced currency management
- Rollups will not work with advanced currency management
- Create rollups with customized rollups instead
- Follow past convos on #Customizable Rollups
- View the Trailhead trail: https://trailhead.salesforce.com/en/content/learn/modules/opportunity-settings-in-nonprofit-success-pack/enable-customizable-rollups-npsp

- Despite being an administrator on our NPSP, I, for some reason, cannot see one of the (essential to our organisation) custom objects we set up during implementation that needs to be added to contacts. My colleagues have the same level of access, but CAN see the two custom objects both when adding a new contact and editing them, whereas I cannot. I hope this makes sense and someone can help?
- Check field-level security: Object manager > fields > fields and relationships > field-level security
- https://help.salesforce.com/articleView?id=sf.admin_fls.htm&type=5
- Check the page layouts
- System admin in profile > go to sys admin profile > object settings within profiles > contact settings > edit > record type in question > listed as available to tick yes
- My question is about Person Accounts. We have the Enterprise Edition as that suited our model best, but we need a way to track individuals. I want to know your opinion about the best way to do this - some seem a bit 'anti' Person Accounts!
- Not that scary!
- Considerations for using person accounts: https://help.salesforce.com/articleView?id=sf.account_person_behavior.htm&type=5
- https://www.salesforce.org/trial/nonprofit-ee/
- How do we know which NPSP model we are using?
What's up next?
- Aug 19: Join the next Nonprofit Ask Me Anything on Thurs, August 19 (every third Thursday of the month!), with hosts @Lauren Weller and @Akash Mishra
- Keep an eye on the Events Calendar HERE for all upcoming webinars/roundtables/success-focused events!
@Tracey Morris can you share the day/time of the next London Nonprofit user group meeting, pretty please? I'm not seeing a link on Bevy, cheers 🙂
Thanks again!
