DocuSign for Salesforce

Your one-stop shop for all things DocuSign and Salesforce! Owner: Lauren Dunne Senior Salesforce Evangelist for DocuSign

I'm surprised at how quiet this group is, given the DocuSign App Launcher (entirely new DocuSign/Salesforce package) being rolled out this year.  (FYI for those of you who missed the memo, the old Docusign Salesforce integration will be defunct starting in October, and it's taking real time to make the change.)

The new package has a nice "Docusign Envelope Template" functionality that allows me to automatically add Opportunity Contact Roles to my envelopes as CC:s, however, it limits you to five of them.  I'm hoping to have them increase the max count, and would appreciate your up-vote on this enhancement idea within the DocuSign community:

Hi all,

I am setting up Docusign in Salesforce. Authorization and connection with Docusign were already established.

Currently I have prepared Envelope Template and Gen Template. When I am trying to generate and Preview the merge field data on document.

Document does not gets generated and attached snap error is thrown.

Current my User is System Admin. It had access of all the fields, which I am using in Document.

I cannot find any integration user in my salesforce org which is dedicated for the Docusign.

How can I resolve this issue.?

We currently use a DocuSign button on the Salesforce Contact record to manually send DocuSign envelopes, and that process works correctly.

We are now automating this workflow so Salesforce will:

  • Automatically create a DocuSign envelope using a DocuSign Template
  • Generate and store the recipient signing URL on the Contact record
  • Sync that URL to Account Engagement (Pardot)
  • Use the signing link inside Account Engagement emails
  •   However, we are unable to generate the signing URL programmatically, and we need assistance identifying the correct configuration or method to create the Recipient View (signing link) via Salesforce automation.

@Harsha Shashikanth I'm no longer actively responsible for our DocuSign integration, but I never did find any tools to help or improved recommendations.  What I ended up doing was manually creating a template stub in the UI so IDs and all the right relationships were created natively.  Then surgically updating hard parts like all the configured fields via SOQL on the Salesforce objects directly for the new template records (either copy\paste in dev console or bulk upload).  Improved the time spent and uncertainty in the release but you better believe I thoroughly worked out my process between 2 sandboxes first before trying between sandbox and prod!  Good luck.

I am struggling to understand how to use group select. I am building a template that will be run from a "parent opportunity" it should be looking at children opportunities and opportunity line items on those children. I want to group by Child Opportunities Account Name. and put the opportunity products within the table.

I am getting errors like the following. Any suggestions, I feel like i have tried everything

TemplateErrorExists:Group and matching EndGroup tags must be in the same paragraph as

grouped content OR in their own paragraphs above and below grouped

content.TemplateErrorExists:Schema Validation Error: The required attribute 'By' is missing.

Dealership Name:

TemplateErrorExists:XPathException: XPath expression (./Account.Name)

returned no resultsDealership Location: TemplateErrorExists:XPathException: XPath expression

(./Account.ShippingAddress) returned no results

Product Description Term List Price Discount Total Price

Recurring Price: TemplateErrorExists:XPathException: XPath expression

(./MRR_Amount__c) returned no results

Config & Staging: TemplateErrorExists:XPathException: XPath expression

(./One_Time_Services_Total__c) returned no results

TemplateErrorExists:Error: EndGroup without matching Group

Table Group Select not working as expected

Sounds like two things are happening — your `<Group By="...">` tag isn’t set up correctly, and some of your merge fields aren’t matching the data context you’re in. Make sure the Group and EndGroup are on their own lines or in the same paragraph, and that the `By` attribute matches an actual field in the child opportunity scope (e.g. `By="Account.Name"` only works if Account is being queried in that repeat block).

If anything referenced in a DocuSign Gen document causes problems generating the document, the user only gets an error message of the type 'Could Not Generate Document [100] Error Occurred Reference ID'

. The error might be due to a change in metadata (like a deleted field), or the data itself (like a unsupported format).

There is no entry within Salesforce in the DocuSign Logs tab for the error. Finding the cause seems to be only possible by manually testing all metadata and data referenced in the doc.

Are there any alternative ways to get more detailed error logs?

Hi @Keiji Otsubo, I've seen the documentation, but it only gives you manual steps to resolve the issue. In templates with dozens of fields over multiple objects and hundreds of records, it becomes very time consuming identifying the data issue manually.

I've been looking to see if DocuSign could provide logging that identifies the underlying data issue.

I have created a DocuSign generation template intended to structure the document accordingly. However, during the document generation process, I am encountering the following issues:

  • Quote Lines are either not populating at all
  • Or, when they do populate, they appear in duplicate

Issue with DocuSign Quote Document Generation – Quote Lines Not Populating Correctly

Hi, I'd like to render a formula field on a DocuSign Gen template. However, the line breaks are not transformed correctly.

Salesforce formula simplified

Account__r.Name & BR() &

Account__r.BillingStreet & BR() &

Account__r.BillingPostalCode & ' ' &

Account__r.BillingCity & BR() &

-> Output in Salesforce as expected

DocuSign output

Name<br>Street<br>Postalcode City

I've tried CHAR(10),

\\n,

\n without success. Is there any way to achieve line breaks?

Mastering DocuGen Templates for CPQ Quotes & Work Orders

If you’re struggling to use DocuGen Templates for generating quotes and work orders in Salesforce CPQ, I completely understand—I’ve spent the last three weeks figuring it out with minimal help from DocuSign’s documentation. Now, I want to share what I’ve learned to hopefully save you time and frustration!

Key Processes for CPQ Users:

Below are some critical steps that CPQ users can apply to generate well-structured quotes and work orders using DocuGen.

💡 Grouping Quote Line Items by CPQ Groups

If you need to organize your quote by CPQ groups and separate optional vs. non-optional items, here’s what worked for me:

Keep in mind that you will get "NaN" for the sum amounts if they are over 999 unless you make a formula text field in the record and then reference that field for the Sum() in the template.

Hope this help anyone who need it.

Good Luck!

This is great work. I've been struggling to figure out how to exclude items from a Grouping for about 6 months. Just curious how you figured that out and if you found any documentation that you would share :)
