First time using Flows and I feel like I'm missing a simple piece but I just can't see where.  I am trying to setup a simple action of sending an email when any new lead is created.  I found several ways to do this, two really simple ones and I keep running into the same error when running them.

Route 1: Created an email template, created an email alert, created a record-triggered flow --> Send email alert --> Select the email alert I just created, it's asking for a Record ID which I don't know what to use and no matter what I put in this field I get the error "Missing required input parameter: customNotifTypeId" when running the flow.

Route 2: Create a record-triggered flow, Action --> Send Email --> Enter in the email addresses, use the template I created from Route 1 and I get the same error here as I did in Route 1.

I get an email when I fail these runs with the below information.  My thoughts on why I keep getting the below email with the same issue is that there is no new lead when I try to run the flow thus it can't send anything and I get the email below.

ASSIGNMENT: Add Recipient IDs   {!RecipientIds} Add {!$Record.Owner:User.Individual.CreatedById}   Result  {!RecipientIds} = "[]"

GET RECORDS: Get Custom Notification Type   Find all CustomNotificationType records where:   DeveloperName Equals Lead_Notification   Store the values of these fields in Get_Custom_Notification_Type: CreatedById, Id   Result  Failed to find records    @Salesforce Flow Automation

    Hi @Melissa Cook,

    You’re mixing Email + Custom Notification logic, which is causing the error.

    Error "Missing required input parameter: customNotifTypeId" comes from a Custom Notification action, not Email.

    Fix:

    •  Remove any Custom Notification elements from the flow
    •  For Email Alert -> use Record ID = {!$Record.Id} (Lead Id)
    •  For Send Email action -> no need for Custom Notification setup

    Also:

    Your debug shows CustomNotificationType not found, which confirms the issue.

    Keep it simple: just use Email Alert + {!$Record.Id}

     and it will work

    If you find this helpful feel free to mark it as Best Answer !!!! 😊

    Thanks and Regards.
