Hi Community,

I spend many hours working on Salesforce Trailhead, admin tasks, and development work. I’m thinking about using a gaming mouse or advanced tool to improve productivity and comfort.

I would like to know:

  • Are gaming mice useful for Salesforce admin/developer work?
  • Which features are most helpful (extra buttons, macros, DPI control, ergonomic design)?
  • Does anyone have personal recommendations that work well with Salesforce tools?

My goal is to improve efficiency and reduce hand strain during long work sessions.

Looking forward to your suggestions. Thank you! 😊

I also have the same question, because I spend quite a bit of time working through Trailhead modules, Salesforce setup screens, and development tasks, and I have wondered whether a gaming mouse actually makes a noticeable difference for this kind of work. I think the extra buttons could be useful, especially for actions that are repeated frequently, such as going back and forward, opening commonly used pages, copying and pasting, or switching between applications, although I’m not sure how useful gaming-specific features like very high DPI settings would be for Salesforce work. For me, comfort would probably be more important than gaming performance, particularly when working for several hours at a time. A mouse that fits the hand well, has smooth and accurate movement, and allows a few useful buttons to be customized seems like it could make everyday Trailhead and development work a little easier without being unnecessarily complicated.

I’d also be interested in hearing from people who actually use a gaming or productivity-focused mouse while doing Salesforce admin or development work, because I imagine the best choice depends a lot on the person's workflow. Some people might benefit from several programmable buttons, while others may find that a simpler ergonomic mouse is more comfortable and just as effective. I’m especially curious about whether anyone has found a good setup for reducing repetitive movements during long sessions, since switching between the mouse and keyboard constantly can become tiring after several hours. It would be helpful to know which features people actually use in their day-to-day Salesforce work rather than just the features that sound impressive on a gaming mouse, and whether there are any particular models or button configurations that have made a noticeable difference to productivity and comfort. I’d also be curious whether anyone uses similar programmable-button setups when working with visually detailed games or minecraft content such as Actions and Stuf minecraft, since that could provide another perspective on how useful custom controls are during long sessions.
