I am trying to find a possible way to create a dimension group based off of the Measure Names field. There are more than 40 measures in my data source, and we are displaying about 15 measures in a details view in a tabular format with one dimension on the left and the 15 measures corresponding to the dimension against it. However, the report users won't need all the 15 measures all together at a single time.

So, consider there are 15 measures in the view -> 5 measures from Category A, 4 measures for Category B and the rest are "Others". I'd like to see if it's possible to a have a filter with values "Category A", "Category B", and "Others". And selecting these filter values should show/hide the related measure values in the details view for that category. Did anyone face a similar situation and were you able to create a workaround solution for it?

I cannot create a Group of measures, but there is a way to handle this. You could use sheet swapping.

    • Create four sheets; one with group A, one with group B, one with Other, and another with All of the measures.
    • After creating the sheets, create a string parameter with the names of the four views in a list.
    • Hide the titles on the sheets and place all four of them into a container on your dashboard.
    • Create a calculated field called SheetView or some such and make it equal to your parameter.
    • Drag the calculated field to the filter shelf for each of the sheets.
    • For each of the sheets, go to the Custom Value List tab on the filter and set the value to the name of the sheet (same as the name given in the parameter).
    • Now when the parameter switches the correct sheet will be displayed.

You can also look this up on the web if you cannot follow what I have written.
