Creating a group - visual vs using labels

Afternoon,

I am studying/review to take the Desktop Specialist Exam.  Two skills measured that appear under "Organize data and apply filters" are to:

1. Create a visual group

2. Create a group using labels

I know how to create a group from the data pane.  I also know how to create a group by selecting marks in a chart/viz and grouping them.

Is this what they are getting at?

When I search Tableau's help I don't really get a specific result that makes a clear distinction between these two and just get an article on making a group from the data pane.

Any help with a clarification would be most appreciated.
