How can I create a report with a prospect's first touch campaign?

The custom report type Campaigns with Influenced Opportunities (Customizable Campaign Influence) seems to be related to Opportunities

    Hi @Sheeba Baig

    ,

I'm reading "prospect" as an Account Engagement prospect. "First touch" can mean two different things here, and the report differs for each.

Option 1: Account Engagement's own first touch (source campaign)

    • The first Campaign a prospect interacts with becomes their Source Campaign, so Account Engagement Campaigns follow a first-touch attribution model. nebulaconsulting
    • You can see this in the Account Engagement Campaigns report (closed-loop ROI), or in prospect reporting there.
    • For a report in Salesforce, the prospect's Campaign field syncs to the Lead/Contact. I haven't verified the exact field name or type in your org, so check the sync field mapping.
    • This is the weak point: when salespeople create leads in Salesforce that sync to Pardot, the connector campaign can end up as the prospect campaign, hiding the true first touch. Check how your leads get created before trusting this field. salesforceben

Option 2: First touch from Salesforce Campaign Members

    • Use a Leads/Contacts with Campaign History style report and look at Campaign Member First Associated Date. That date can show which campaign came first for a lead. salesforceben
    • Standard reports can't return "the campaign with the earliest date per person" as a single row. You can group by Lead/Contact and sort by that date, or
    • Stamp a First Touch Campaign field on the Lead/Contact with a record-triggered Flow on CampaignMember create. It populates only if empty, so it reports cleanly. This is a small build, and I'd confirm it with you before doing it.

Why the report type you found doesn't fit

Campaigns with Influenced Opportunities only returns rows where an opportunity exists. It will miss every prospect who hasn't reached an opportunity, so it only suits revenue attribution. I haven't verified whether a first-touch model is available out of the box in your Customizable Campaign Influence setup. Check Campaign Influence Models in Setup if revenue attribution is the goal.
