    Hi @Edmon Poh

    , some things to consider / try:

    (1) Do you have a version mismatch between your Tableau Desktop and the version used to create the workbook. If you have a .twb file then you can open it in notepad (or other text editor as it's "just" XML) and you should see some version info at the top. It's possible you're trying to use something created with newer functionality that doesn't work on your version. If there is a version mismatch (i.e. you're on an lower version number) then post back the versions if you like as that may help.

    NB: If the file is a .twbx then you can open it in winzip (or similar) and extract the twb.

    (2) Can you tell whether the workbook is using an extract or a live data connection, and if it's live do you have access to that live data source? Sometimes inspecting the XML will help you determine this. If you have a .twbx then there is a chance you're using an extract - you should see a .hyper or .tds in the unzipped file. If it uses an extract it's less likely to be the problem as the data has been included with the workbook.

    (3) Is the file somehow corrupted? Potentially if you view the XML and see it cut off somewhere instead of finishing neatly. I.e. you see an opening and closing workbook tag like:

    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8' ?>

    <!-- build 20262.26.0603.1643 -->

    <workbook original-version='18.1' source-build='2026.2.0 (20262.26.0603.1643)' source-platform='win' version='18.1' xmlns:user='http://www.tableausoftware.com/xml/user'>

    :

    lots of content

    :

    </workbook>

    If the workbook is corrupted then you will need to talk to whoever shared it.

    If you can share a bit more info with us we may be able to help more - the person who shared the workbook with you may, again, be able to shed some light.

    Ta, Steve.
