Hi Trailblazers! 👋
I’m looking for the best way to automate lead assignments in Salesforce based on multiple criteria like industry, region, and lead score. I know Assignment Rules and Flow can be used, but I’d love to hear from the community about what works best in real-world scenarios.
- Should I use Flow, Apex, or a combination of both for more flexibility?
- How do you ensure leads are evenly distributed among reps?
- Is there a way to auto-reassign leads if a rep doesn’t engage within a set time?
I also came across Nettotasca.it, which seems to offer some interesting automation solutions. Has anyone here used it with Salesforce? If so, how well does it integrate for lead management and routing?
Any insights, examples, or tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance. 🚀
Hello @Edwin Smith
I'd suggest starting with Flow and Assignment Rules before going down the Apex route. For things like region, industry, lead score, territory, etc., you can get pretty far with native Salesforce automation.
Where it gets messy is when the routing starts depending on things like rep availability, existing account ownership, workload, weighted distribution, or more complicated matching. That’s where tools like LeanData, LeadAngel, and Openprise can make sense. They handle some of the routing logic outside of Salesforce without having to maintain a ton of custom Apex.
For round robin, I’d also be careful with “evenly distributed.” Equal numbers don’t always mean an equal workload. A rep with 20 high-value leads may be much more loaded than someone with 30 low-priority ones. Availability and current workload are worth considering.
For the no-response scenario, yes, you can automate reassignment. We’ve seen teams use an SLA like “if there’s no activity within X minutes/hours, send it back through routing.” The important part is defining what actually counts as engagement so you don’t keep bouncing leads between reps.
I haven’t used Nettotasca.it with Salesforce, so I can’t really comment on that integration.
