Greetings! Our organization plans to link Salesforce to two external systems for data management and reporting needs. Data from Accounts and Opportunities will be passed to these external systems. It had been communicated to me some time ago that the native Account ID and native Opportunity ID could NOT be used as a link. Rather, we must create a unique Account ID field and a unique Opportunity ID field. Reaching out to this group for clarification to confirm if the native Salesforce IDs may be used to link systems together or if we must create our own. Thank you, John

Hello, it could naturally, even if you generally use, as a best practice, a "more functional ID" (that you store as an unique external id) to avoid losing the link, if ever the records were manipulated on Salesforce side. Eric
