Pete Klein が「#Appexchage Apps」で質問
Hi everybody.

We have a client whose recruiters use the Digital Sales Aid (https://appexchange.salesforce.com/listingDetail?listingId=a0N300000057ZOHEA2). They would like to extend it with an HTML 5 bundle which would add a button that adds a button, that, when pressed, shows a small survey. The recruiter answers the questions, and based on the answers, gets a list of assets (mostly PDFs, possibly videos) that already exist in their salesforce account.

I've already got their Digital Sales Aid 3.2 Cordova API document. I have developed and used many web services in the past, and calls make sense, I just have no idea where / how to use it in the context of Salesforce.  Here are the questions I'm trying to answer:

- How do I set up an HTML5 bundle to be used by an existing app?

- Do I need to do anything extra to make the app aware of the bundle's existence?

- What information / actions do I need from the client (salesforce login to create the app instance, permissions, oauth, etc)?

- How is this testable without pushing the changes live?

- Since this uses Cordova, do I need to do any compiling, like with other phonegap apps?

I'm a total noob to salesforce, so anything you could do to point me in the right direction, or addtional questions to clarify my situation would be great. There is a ton of documention on this site, and given my needs, I'm not sure which, if any, apply to my situation. I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

Since this uses Cordova, the best starting point is to look at the Force.com Mobile SDK. It comes for both iOS (http://github.com/forcedotcom/SalesforceMobileSDK-iOS) and Android (https://github.com/forcedotcom/SalesforceMobileSDK-Android) so chose one based on your platform needs.

The Mobile SDK offers 2 development approaches - native and hybrid. For hybrid, it includes Cordova for packaging and accessing device specific features.

To play around with it, you should ask the client to provide access to their developer sandbox where they/ you would create a connected app which would take care of the Authorisation and authentication pieces.

    As for your other queries

    - How is this testable without pushing the changes live?

You can test this on your devices by doing a local build. You will setup this up as a Mobile SDK hybrid project.

    - Since this uses Cordova, do I need to do any compiling, like with other phonegap apps?

Mobile SDK builds a template project for you and it uses Cordova internally for packaging so there's nothing special that you need to do.

If you face issues, please feel free to post another thread.
