Why does Sandbox API Performance Degrade on Subsequent Tests

We have a data sync process that normally takes 10 minutes. We are testing changes to that process, and with each test, the amount of time it takes to retrive data from the API increases. The latest tests are taking 90 minutes. Does anyone know why our performance could be degrading?

    Please check your environment status by using:

    http://trust.salesforce.com/

    This will give you from environment perspective.

    We may also look into the process what exactly it is taking and put some debug messages to see the processing time.
