I would like to create a widget/query where I can display the name of the user currently viewing the Dashboard. I do not have a need to change the filters/security according to the viewing user.
I am just trying to put something at the top that is like "Hi Colette!"

With the newest capabilities, you don't need bindings.
Just follow the first step to use a SAQL query to derive the user's name. Then use a text widget, where you can retrieve the result from the SAQL query without any bindings.
