I have a customer portal through #Digital Experience Platforms and I want customers to go through and make their own Opps (disguised as quotes). However, we have a specific page layout we want to use and a specific record type. How would I achieve that? Would it just be setting someone up in Salesforce and then giving them a specific profile, having them use the new record type, and then assigning a page layout for that record type?
What license would they receive?
Each customer would need their own partner license to do this. The partner license level is the only one that allows for users to create/edit Opportunities. These licenses are considerably less than regular licenses but I would be wary of the expected volume as this could become a very expensive endeavor very quickly. But you would create an experience site with the probably the Partner Central theme. Once you have an experience site built out, you would enable users via Contact records (explained here) - and those users would get the Partner profile. That profile is how you would grant the correct object permissions and page layouts for those users. You might want to identify the number of customers you expect to do this first and call your AE about a quote on partner licenses before you start. Like I said, it could be very expensive if you're looking to enable this for more than just a few customers.
