Howdy!
I think that merging one-off/ single/ not bulk Contacts and Accounts in NPSP is pretty challenging/ impossible to do well. Please prove me wrong!
For bulk merges we use DemandTools.
For ne-off/ single/ not batched duplicates we are looking at a pretty broken system and landscape that doesn't appear to have any good answers.
- If you utilize the Contact Merge functionality here https://powerofus.force.com/s/article/NPSP-Merging-Contacts you do not have the ability to select which fields values are added to the winning household Account. We use fields on the Household Account so this functionality is not useful to us.
- Boooo!
- If you utilize the Merge functionality in Salesforce Classic https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sf.contacts_merge_classic.htm&type=5 you have the limitation that you are unable to select the winning fields for any fields not on the Page Layout.
- Boooo!
- To merge Contacts and Account using the Lighting Contact and Account merge they need to already be selected by a matching rule and be in a duplicate together. This doesn't work for us because if these duplicates were able to be found with an easy matching rule they would have already been merged by DemandTools.
- Booo!
Am I missing any options? This seems like a major issue for NPSP. Let me know your thoughts.
