I have some individuals that are in our organization that are parents to our members, but also volunteers, or board members etc.

I am wondering how I should deal with my contacts for these specific individuals since I have contact forms for volunteers and parents. I hope this makes sense.

A contact can certainly be many things. It’s actually highly desirable. I would suggest making sure you have records that help you identify if someone is a volunteer, or a parent, or a board member, or whatever. And then use the presence of those records to help you automatically recognize the different roles, one or multiple, Of your contact.

The good news is that lightning record pages can have components and with winter 21 even fields that are visible based on the value of other fields. So this means if you have some type of summary that indicates how many hours someone has volunteered, you can turn on certain components (and with winter 21 certain fields) if they are volunteer. Same with parent or a board member Or donor.

That’s my recommended approach. I may have missed your point and if so I apologize.

There is an knowledge article in the hub about categorizing contacts. It can be done many ways. The only thing I strongly recommend against is manual categorization. It looks great initially but it always breaks down as you grow.
