However, my custom field "Is First Gift Date This Year" is not working. I followed the instructions, but there are zero gifts that come back marked as "true".
Any idea how to fix this custom field?

Thanks for sharing the screenshot, @Lizzie Martinez! At first glance, things look good in the screenshot. Can you confirm that 1) the Primary Contact is filled in for each of your Opportunities; and 2) the Contact fields for First Gift Date This Year, First Gift Date Last Year, etc. are populating as expected?
