When using Classic email templates within Lightning, you can actually see the values for the merge fields (in my example, first name). But when using Lightning email templates, you still see the merge field. This is not a great user experience for our support reps who send out hundreds of emails each day. Are there plans to change that to be like the classic templates and so that they can see the name without clicking the eyeball/preview?

Yes, it was an easy way to check if there are any issues in template merge fields without even using them through the actual email sending functionality.
New Lightning Email Builder is good, and it would be best if this feature is enabled as well.
