When a user creates a new Opportunity they must select if the Opportunity is above or below 50%, which then determines which page layout their record is created with (two page layouts which are nearly identical).

I inherited this Salesforce instance so I'm not sure if this is standard Salesforce protocol for Opportunities or if my organization set this up before my time (for a reason that is now unknown).

My question - is there a way to eliminate the two separate page layouts and the cooresponding question when a user creates a new record? (I see the option where a user can skip the page in the future, but I need to know if we can delete one of the page layouts without negatively impacting our Salesforce and if that will get rid of that page (screenshot below) entirely.)

Thank you, Christen

You need to head into Setup to look at the Record Types for the Opportunities object. You can delete or deactivate Record Types as well as associate them with different Page Layouts. I strongly encourage you to read about this before makine changes. Here is a great place to start: https://help.salesforce.com/articleView?id=customize_recordtype.htm&type=5

And you can learn more on this Trailhead Module: https://trailhead.salesforce.com/content/learn/projects/customize-a-salesforce-object
