Can't change Lightning dashboard color palette

I would like to change the Lightning dashboard color palette in a dashboard I created. I have permission to Change Dashboard Colors and can see the palette and Light/Dark theme controls in Dashboard Properties. If I change the theme, the dashboard changes as soon as I hit SAVE in Dashboard Properties. If I change the palette, nothing happens at any point.

    Tried cloning, no change.

     

    I open the dashboard, click on EDIT, click on the settings gear, select a different theme and/or palette, click on SAVE. Changes to the Light/Dark theme are applied as soon as I save. Nothing happens to changes to the palette.
