I am trying to create a formula field on Activities that looks up the 'Assigned To' field and returns their role field. The formula I am using is just simply:
Owner:User.UserRole.Name
However, when I try to save the new field I get this unexpected error:
Can anyone tell me where I am going wrong or what I have overlooked please?

Hi Tom,
Please log a call with Salesforce support, the error that you are seeing are generally associated with VF Pages or Wizards within salesforce but you cannot exactly pinpoint why this is happening.
since you are getting this error while creating a New field and in this instance salesforce support are better equipped to handle the request.
