Hi,

I created a report based on 'Tasks and Events' report type. I have Roles setup in my instance. When I run the report with 'My activities' filter, I see acitivites assigned only to me. But when I use 'My Team's Activities' filter, the report data does not get filtered at all. I am expecting to see activites assigned only to those users who are below me in role hierarchy, but I see all activities assigned to all users in my instance. Can someone help me identify what I am missing. I am using Lightning.

Thanks.

    Explanation with an example

Suppose your company has 10 sales managers for 10 departments, each assigned to the role “Sales Manager”, and 100 sales reps assigned to the subordinate role “Sales Rep.” In this case, each sales manager, when selecting the “My Team’s Deals” filter, will see the deals of ALL 100 sales reps

, even if he wants to see only the deals of their own 10 team members.

    There are two ways

    to solve this:

    1.

Leave the Role Hierarchy as it is, but in the managers’ report (based on the Deals table), create a filter (Owner = $USER OR Owner.Manager = $USER). For each user, specify their manager in their settings.

    2.

Split the “Sales Manager” role into 10 roles:

    • Sales Manager – Department #1
    • Sales Manager – Department #2
    • ...
    • Sales Manager – Department #10

And split the “Sales Rep” role into 10 roles:

    • Sales Rep – Department #1
    • Sales Rep – Department #2
    • ...
    • Sales Rep – Department #10

Then, assign the appropriate employees and managers to their corresponding roles. In this case, the “My Team’s Deals” filter will show deals only for their own team members.
