Our customer obejcts "field recs", if they are in the first 3 picklist values for stage, there should be a red flag on the account. However, once the "field rec" is pushed out of these stages, it should change to a green flag.
I have this set and working fine for single related items. I have a process running that checks the stage, marks a checkbox and pushes the image. Then it checks if it isn't those stages and unchecks the box, and the image changes.
The problem is with multiple children.
How can I set it up to check if ANY related items are in this field, or ANY aren't?

This is a good case for using Visual Flows. Use a Process Builder to trigger the event and a Flow to look at the Parent and Children and update them appropriately.
If the children are part of a Master Detail relationship, you can also use a roll-up summary field to update this process.
