I have set up a simple process to copy the value of a picklist field on a case record to a picklist on a related custom object record. Both picklists are pulling from the same global picklist.
(Cases have funding codes. When a user enters a time record accociated with a case that has a funding code, I want the process to update the time record with the case's funding code.)
The process works beautifully, except that it throws up an error whenever someone creates a tim record where the case has a funding code value that is deactivated. Essentially, the process fails because Saleforce can't save a record with a picklist value that isn't an active value.
The thing is, I don't care about the process firing when the value on the case is deactivated. Is there a way to set up a condition (formula?) on the process such that it doesn't fire if the value is deactivated? I know that I could set up a condition for each deactivated value, but I'd like to avoid having to update the process each time a value is deactivated.
Thanks for your help!
Note: the two conditions in the screennshot below are null conditions. The first establishes that the related record is related (hours record does have a case associated.) The second establishes that the case has a value in the picklist field (by way of a simple formula field on the hours record.)
I'm hoping that there's a condition I can add that says that the picklist field value on the case is an active one.
Thanks again.

Tim, i doubt that Processbuilder has a capability to detect whether a Picklist value is Active or Inactive? But i am wondering how users are creating a record with Deactivated picklist values ?
Since you are using global picklist and if value is deactivated, it should not available in any object. Since the picklist value is on Case object, did you verified it's not available in Support process also ?
