I have a post-save flow where I'm trying to automatically create a Case when I check a box on a Task, then take the ID of the new Case and add it to a lookup field on the original Task, thereby relating them.
Creating the Case works fine, and I have it set to store the new Case ID in a text variable varCaseID. The problem is no matter what I try, I can't get it to update the Case lookup field with that varCaseID variable. I've tried an Assignment element and an Update Records element.
This seems pretty basic, and I've encountered this problem before when starting with a PB that launches a flow.
Any thoughts? Thanks!

Hi, Josh,
I didn't look into the specific restriction around the one-flow approach. Just guessing it has to do with the order of execution vis a vis the newly created case id and updating the triggering task record with it. However, if you're interested in an alternative, I set up a two-flow approach that worked for me.
The first flow is your after-save Task flow that creates the Case. My approach was to put the Id of the triggering Task record onto a hidden Task Id custom field on the newly created case.
The second flow is another after-save flow triggered by the creation of a case. In the Start Element's conditions, specifiy that the Task Id field does not equal empty string. Then move to an Update Task element which looks for the Task with the Id in the Task Id field of the triggering Case record. From there, update the Case lookup field on the Task with the Id of the triggering Case record.
It requires two flows and an additional custom field, but it gets the job done.
Good luck!
