Merging two accounts - what happens to contacts, cases & opportunities?

I need to merge two accounts, but I also need to keep all of the contacts, cases, opportunies and assets from both accounts.  Is it even possible?

    Yes, this should be the default behaviour, the related records (contacts, cases etc) from the merged account will show on the retained account once merged.
