unfortunately I could not find any information about how to assign users to a territory when the territory model has been already activated.
It seems to be that once you have an active territory model you can not assign users to a territory anymore (the 'Manage Users' button on the 'Assigned Users' relate list is not available on the Territory anymore).
Can please somebody give me a hint?.

You need to go to that specific Active Territory and Assign users. Will not work if you try to do it from user page.
