We have a contact Type field where we list the sort of department the contact is in. I'm often asked to produce lists of the HR contacts for those customers who have purchased a particular asset.  I usually need to do a data count on these before the main report is needed so I'm looking for a simple way to run this, I just can't seem to find it.

At the moment I have to run a list of all customers with asset X, run a list of all customers with a contact in the HR department and cross reference them.  I've tried building a custom report type but the asset and the contact have no relationship other than the fact they are both under the same company. The CRT only offers A to B and B to C relationships, where I want A to B and A to C.

Does anyone have any ideas please?

    Hi Sara,

Do you more than one lookup field to Account either on Contacts or Assets, it could be a case where you have choosen the wrong lookup relationship.

Please see the screenshot below, where I have created a Cross Object Filters and it works for me.I have created Asset and Contact for the same Account and used my own filter Title instaed of Type on Contact object but it worked for me
