Scenario:
My KCS Candidate can currently set the channels by which an article can be viewed and set the validation status.
Channels
Internal App
Partner Portal
Customer Portal
Public Knowledge Base
Validation Status
- work in progress
-not validated
-Validated Internal
-Validated External
I've got it so the KCS candidate can't publish without going through an approval process. However when the article goes to the KCS Publisher for Approval you can't even see which channels the user selected.
Questions:
1. Should I use field updates to mandate which channels are allowed based on Validation Status?
2. Am I going about this the right way? It seems dangerous to allow a non publisher to be able to toggle the validation status and channels.
3. Is there a way to make channels or validation status read only?
4. If this isn't possible then how do I safeguard an article from being published to the wrong channel?
Wishlist:
Make channels and validation status read only to non KCS Publishers and set these based on workflow field updates upon approval.

Hi David,
1. I will recommand this approach, like this you do not need to train your team to have to manage the visibility and they can only concentrate on the validation status.
3. You cannot make the validation status or channel read only. But I agree it will be great. I hope to make it in the futur.
4. The safeguard is by using approval process. Remove publish right to user that you are not confident on and setup approval process. Every time they will submit for approval based on the validation status/ channel, you can either publish right away or assign to a person or a queue for validation.
