Is there any way that I can edit the look and feel of visual flow screens? The functionality that you can create via visual workflow is really compelling, but the look and feel is so sterile and boring.
Can I make adjustments to page layouts, background colors, add images, etc? If so, how is this done?

Unfortunately there isn't much that you can do! One option would be to embed the Visual Workflow into a VF Page and then using CSS to style them as you like.

Meanwhile I used VFlows to create a Stay in Touch Form exposed via a Force.com Site - https://deepak-k-anand-developer-edition.ap1.force.com/ContactStayInTouch?cid=0039000000uyDrx. I customized the clumsy UI using Boostrap!
